The TRIHOTEL history

Since 1993 the family-managed 4-star TRIHOTEL warmly welcomes guests in the beautiful Hanseatic City Rostock. Just recently the TRIHOTEL got awarded with an additional half star hence we are the best classified hotel in Rostock and are now entitled to use the denotation “First-Class-Superior”.  


The location "Schweizer Wald" is a well-established address in Rostock. First mentioned around 1847 the former „Schweizer Haus“ (Swiss House) became a popular meeting point for young and old, which was provided with a romantic coffee garden, a restaurant and a spacious park.

But the „Schweizer Haus“ (Swiss House) decayed and finally got teared down in 1979. Certainly only ten years later in 1989 two dynamic habitants of Rostock, who knew the flair of this location from hearsay, had the vision to realize their concept of hotel, culture and wellness.

The 101 rooms, apartments and suites of the TRIHOTEL are characterized by comfort, functionality but also individuality.
All rooms are provided with shower or bath, toilet, hair dryer, shaving mirrow, SAT-TV, radio, direct dial telephone and minibar. In many rooms the standard equipment is complemented with bidet, trouser press, safe und ISDN access.

The TRIHOTEL is totally equipped wheelchair accessible and provides two barrier-free rooms. Lift, parking spaces and underground parking are available directly on the site. Of course smokers as well as non-smokers are more than welcome - we offer suitable rooms for your special needs.

Especially Ms. Ilona Weiß has a significant passion for details which shows everywhere in the hotel: in the 11 individual comfort rooms, the Senators- or Captains-Room, or in the 6 light-flooded apartments with their unique view over the dreamy “Schweizer Wald” (Swiss Wood). 

By the end of 1998 the congress centre got extended and additionally equipped with modern communication technologies . That includes teleconference systems, videoprojectors, large-scale displays. In all our three congress areas (muliple detachabe) up to 450 people can hold professional meetings in an inspiring atmosphere with daylight and air conditioning. During the conference breaks you may recover on our inviting terrace or the surrounding „Scheizer Wald“ (Swiss Wood).

One of the TRIHOTEL specialities is the well-known cabaret stage named SPOT on which numerous artists have performed. Cabaret, political satire, readings or actings but also passionate jazz sounds will entertain you.

The in 2002 renewed spa „AQUA“ offers a manifold range of wellness treatments in an exclusive and relaxing atmosphere. Our qualitiy-proofed and mulitiple-awarded concept „kneippism“  is unique throughout Germany.

Jörn und Ilona Weiß, who previously ran the first commercial sauna in the GDR, decided to establish a hotel on this beautiful site. Within only one year, the former meeting point of Rostock gloomed in new splendor. TRI stands for the 3 pillars, on which the hotel concept is based:
